Shoreline Towers Committees
Balcony Committee
- Chair: Paul Nork
- Committee Charge: This committee will meet with balcony owners regarding any potential problems concerning balconies, and report back to the Board with written recommendations about how to resolve such problems.
Budget Committee
- Chair: George Jakubowski
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with evaluating and recommending an operating budget, a capital improvement budget, and a budget to account for capital reserves prepared by the Treasurer and Management for presentation to the Board. Furthermore, this committee will be prepared to answer questions about the budget.
Building Rules & Regulations Committee
- Chair: Chris Simpler
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with evaluating the current rules and regulations of the association, making written recommendations about revising existing rules or implementing new rules to the board of directors. New committee charges include development of garage/laundry rules, pet rules and development of a building policy regarding noise.
Business Activity Committee
- Chair: Paul Nork
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with evaluating current rules and regulations and the existing association declaration concerning prohibited and not-prohibited business activities which may take place in owners' units, and to make written recommendations to the Board about any proposed changes to the rules or declaration.
Cable Committee
- Chair: Paul Chiarelli
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) seeking bids from different cable TV providers and making written recommendations to the Board about which cable provider is the best to sign a contract with for cable services, b) monitoring and evaluating existing cable services and making recommendations about these services, and c) seeking bids about rewiring the existing cable to improve the building's technical infrastructure.
Coupon Sharing Committee
- Chair: Garvice Sanders
- Committee Charge: The purpose of this committee is to encourage residents' personal cost savings efforts by sharing and receiving coupons, through a low-maintenance community coupon-sharing method. Coupon categories under consideration include: beverages and munchies, cleaning and paper products, cosmetics, diapers and toiletries, dairy and meat, eateries, health care, and others.
Election Committee (closed)
- Co-Chairs: Sue Laffer & Nourene Alper
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) monitoring and evaluating current building election procedures to make sure they are consistent with the Illinois Condominium Property Act, b) conducting and monitoring fair elections consistent with the existing election procedures, and c) making written recommendations to the Board about any proposed changes to the existing election procedures.
Exercise Room Committee
- Co-Chairs: David Loring & Michael Moody
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) evaluating and monitoring the conditions of existing exercise room equipment, b) seeking bids and making recommendations to the Board regarding the purchase of new equipment and service contracts, and c) serving as the liaison with the rules and regulations committee regarding the exercise room.
Legal Committee (closed)
- Chair: Edward Frischholz
- Committee Charge: This committee will serve as the liaison between the Board and Shoreline Towers' legal counsel.
Life Safety Committee
- Chair: Norman Alper
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) determining the legal obligations of the association to be in compliance with the existing City of Chicago Life Safety Ordinance, b) reporting to the Board about current life safety requirements and how to best implement those requirements, c) preparing cost estimates for the budget committee regarding the cost of implementing mandatory life safety requirements as defined by the City of Chicago, and d) recommending how to monitor the residential population at Shoreline Towers for effective evacuation.
Management and Operations Committee
- Chair: Danielle Aeschbacher
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) meeting with our current management company on a quarterly basis regarding questions owners and residents may have about current association policies regarding the operations and management of the building, and b) providing a written report to the Board about recommendations concerning current association policies.
Personnel Committee
- Chair: Danielle Aeschbacher
- Members: Greg Kaufman, Paul Chiarelli
- Committee Charge: This committee will monitor and evaluate personnel relation between the Board and Management.
Reserve Study Committee
- Chair: jan Treptow
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) making written recommendations to the Board about appropriate levels of capital reserves of the association, b) evaluating the current reserve study, and c) making written recommendations to the Board about prioritization of capital reserve projects.
Website Committee
- Chair: Greg Kaufman
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with a) monitoring and maintaining our current website, b) proposing a budget for further development of the website, and c) making written recommendations to the Board about how to further develop the website.
Window Replacement Committee
- Chair: Paul Chiarelli
- Committee Charge: This committee is charged with developing an initial summary of what needs to be done to replace all common elements and unit owners' windows in the building.
Building Representatives
- ASCO Representatives: Chris Simpler, Danielle Aeschbacher and Greg Kaufman.
- The ASCO Representatives will be the liaison between the Shoreline Towers Condominium Association and the Association of Sheridan Road Condo/Co-Op Owners (ASCO).
